What a busy month! Leslie Satterfield worked with Monte Hanson to organize and run the 55th Ladies Invitational. Sixty-nine women teed off June 15–16. The first day proved that weather of any kind can happen in June, presenting a thunderstorm with hail. The field survived that incident and went on playing. Beautiful Central Oregon weather arrived on the second day.
The winner this year was Rosie Cook from Awbrey Glen. This was her 6th win at this tournament, occurring right after her win in a PNWGA event the week before. She also won the contest to identify the number of tees in a glass bowl. Her guess was less than 20 from the actual number. That guess wins her a free entry for the 2022 Invitational.
Leslie Satterfield did an exceptional job planning the event. Thanks to all who participated and volunteered, and special thanks to Monte and his team, Scott Moffenbeier and the maintenance crew, Christie Henson, Darrin and his kitchen staff, and Jeff Keller and the administrative team.
Two days after the Ladies Invitational, our nine hole flight ladies hosted a visitation for sixty women, including seventeen from our club and forty-three from other clubs in the area. Sylvia Collins and Judy Drake dealt with the ups and downs of COVID-19 restrictions in their planning; the result was outstanding.
Many LGA members will compete July 7 at Juniper Golf Club for the annual Silver Bowl competition. The winner is the club whose member has the lowest net score. Go Bend!!!
No rest for the LGA planners: July 14 is the Member/Guest Day. Judy Boulet, Anita Brown, and Nancy Hakala, with assistance from Janice Pratte and Sally Neeb, are organizing this event with the pro shop. Invite a guest and register soon!
These events remind us how important volunteering is to our club. We, as members, find pride in involvement in tournaments, committees, or filling the divots!
Congratulations to Debbie Kerr, who achieved her second hole in one this year on #3.
Best wishes to Karen Goodman on her retirement after many years at Bend Golf Club. Enjoy many days of relaxation, Karen!
