MGA: April 2021

We are so excited to have so many new MGA members join us in the past year. Due to restrictions for having in person get-togethers with our new members, we are finally able to have a meet and greet of new golf members on Tuesday April 20th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. We will set up various tables that will have our professional golf staff, our MGA board members, golf group leaders, handicap chairman, and hopefully our new club membership communications coordinator. Anyone else can attend if you need more information on golf programs, golf groups, posting of scores in GHIN, ForeTees and GHIN apps for your phones, or learning more about the upcoming golf tournaments, events and men’s day game formats.

We sent out a survey to 645 male club members of every membership type. So far, we have received 206 responses. If you’re a male member of BGC and haven’t completed the survey already, please check your email for the link. This survey  will help us and the golf shop understand the needs and desires of our members.

Your MGA board also has made some needed amendments to the MGA bylaws, which the MGA membership overwhelmingly approved.

We are excited about the upcoming Masters event on April 10 and the ABCD Blind Draw on May 8. Be sure to register for these events now. We are also working on a new format for our Member / Guest Tournament coming in June. We are naming this three-day event “The Egan” after our original course designer Chandler Egan. This is a 54-hole event with 18 holes played per day. Day 1: Best ball, Day 2: Chapman, Final Day: 1st 9 holes best ball / 2nd 9 holes two balls count. We will use a modified Stableford scoring method with teams divided into flights by handicap. You will have an opportunity to play with each group in your flight by playing (6) 9-hole round-robin rounds. The top teams will finish with a horserace. More details to come.

Preferred group times start on Thursday, April 8 along with Men’s Day games. There will be a points race this season for all participants in the Men’s Day games so be sure to sign up every Thursday. Awards will be given out to the top points leaders at the end of the season during our fall meeting banquet.
