LGA: Oct. 2020

September 2020 has been a memorable and monumental month. Just as we were getting used to the COVID-19 way of life, the wildfires roared within Oregon. Beginning in the first week of September, the wind  fanned wildfires throughout our state  creating hazardous air quality. We had a week of smoke that required BGC to close our course. Outdoors work was stopped. We were forced to postpone the “one and  only” Corona Classic. Boo-Hoo. Thanks to Barb Gahr, Cindi Eielson, Emily, Moff, Drew and Jeff, it was rescheduled to Oct.3. That was fantastic news to us all.

The Corona Classic Member-Guest tournament was a great  success. Super weather, no smoke , and playing a fun event with friends  made us all very grateful and happy.

We were sorry to say goodbye to Emily Anderson, BGC Head Golf Pro, who resigned as of, Sept. 14. She was a great leader to BGC and the LGA for the very trying past year. We thank her for going above and beyond her regular duties to keep us safe and golfing during COVID-19. We wish her well in the future.

Our nominating committee has posted the 2021 LGA board nominees: V.P. – Barb Wehrle, Sec. – Silvia Collins, 18- hole Asst. golf governor – Joanne Christensen, 9-hole Asst. golf governor – Janice Murrell, Social  – Beth Whitney. Debbie Kerr has opted to be treasurer for the 2021 board.

Thanks you all for volunteering to be on the LGA board. The nominees  are posted in the ladies locker room and outside the BGC office. Upcoming events:

Oct. 28 – Mixer 9-hole game – Moff’s Wacky Par 3 course. Celebrate Halloween!!! Costumes encouraged!

Oct. 28 – 3 p.m. – Last General Meeting – ELECTION OF 2021 LGA BOARD. PLEASE ATTEND!!

Respectfully submitted,
Karen Stanard, LGA President
