LGA: Sept. 2020

Tournaments galore! We have been so fortunate that COVID-19 guidelines did not keep the LGA from hosting three of our annual tournaments during August.

We had good participation in the Member-Member held Aug. 10 and 12. Many thanks to Pam Caine and Cindi Eielson for planning and running this tournament.

On Aug. 19, we played the President’s Cup for our game of the day. Anita Brown was our 2020 President’s Cup Winner. Congratulations, Anita!

Finally, we held the 2020 LGA Club Championship. WOW! What a turnout! We had 40 participants. That is 15 more players than last year. We had five divisions — Championship, Open, Senior, Super Senior, and 9-Hole. The championship flight played from the White/Gold tees. Amy Anderson is our 2020 LGA Club Champion. I congratulate Amy and thank every lady who participated.

We are looking forward to the 2020 Corona Classic on Sept. 12. This is taking the place of the Pinecone Classic for one year only. This will be a fun time for you and a local friend to play in our one day Member-Guest Tournament. Registration is open now through ForeTees.

You can go on the Golf Genius App (iOS or Android) to view the results for the Member-Member. The GGID is ZKYAED, and Club Championship is YCTGKT.

Our Wednesday Mix and Mingle group is growing. This week, 51 women have signed up to be paired with other women they don’t normally play with. Give it a try!

Laurie Hoyez has volunteered to be the LGA liason to the grounds committee. She has experience from her former club. Thanks, Laurie.

We have had a few holes-in-one to celebrate this summer. Jessica Rychard, Sally Neeb, and P.J. Battin. Hurray!!! Remember to make sure you have opted into the money pot part of the hole-in-one policy. You should check with Karen Goodman in the BGC office if you are unsure. The free hole-in one drink hosted by the LGA is limited to 6 oz. house wine, 16 oz. beer, or well cocktail. That’s mighty good!

Respectfully submitted,
Karen Stanard
LGA President
