These unprecedented times have given us all time to reflect on what is truly important in life. As good as golf and turf management have been to me for the past 26 years, these crazy times have proven how things can change in the blink of an eye. I feel very fortunate that I still get to come to work and do what I love, and at the end of the day be at home with my amazing wife and daughters! As stressful as this is for us all, I feel for those most deeply affected and hope for a positive turn soon.
Our maintenance team has adjusted to the times and are doing everything they can to keep the golf course open with everyone’s health and safety in mind. I appreciate my staff for adjusting to reduced hours and increased flexibility as we try and weather the storm. We are taking this one day at a time as we focus on taking care of the club’s most important asset. As much as we have been thanked by the members, we want to say “Thank You” for supporting the club during this time. I hope Bend Golf Club emerges stronger than ever when normal times return.
Our warmer than average January and February and efforts from the maintenance team allowed us to open before all other private courses in Bend. Although certain projects and improvements are now on hold, we have already accomplished so much to be proud of on the golf course.
Moving forward, we are looking for ways to improve efficiency among a reduced staff without affecting the playability of the golf course. Our goal is to keep the short-mowed turf in the best possible condition for your best playing experience. Although some of the small details we typically strive for may suffer for a bit, we hope that you appreciate our efforts as much as you enjoy your time on the course!
Again, thank you for all your support and I remind you to please follow closely the policies and procedures that allow us to be open at this time.
