LGA: October 2019

We’ve been invaded! In early September, we were invaded by The Star Wars aliens. EEEK! I didn’t even know they played golf so far out in the galaxy. We saw Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and a Storm Trooper on the putting green, in Mulligans, and the pro shop. They were everywhere! All this intergalactic fun was planned and created by Jane Lin, Leslie Satterfield, Linda  Kammerich, Marta Batha, and Barb Gahr. Many thanks for making this super successful Pinecone Classic Member/Guest tournament.

The players that found their way through the Circle of Stars, and the Death Star holes to win were:

  • Low Gross of the Galaxy: Barb Gahr and her guest, Athena Douglas
  • Low Net of the Galaxy: Joann Christensen and her guest, Karen Pagen

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!

We had wonderful weather for the tournament. The food was excellent. Who doesn’t like starting a day with crispy bacon? YUM! Thanks to Christie and Darrin for the fine food. The table decorations were beautiful. Leslie Satterfield took the lead with these decorations. There were many compliments from members and guests.

Pam Caine, 2018 LGA president, has been busy taking names for the upcoming LGA board nominations and elections. It’s not too late to get in the running. We all are capable of being a leader for the LGA. Please consider being a part of the board.

I was away at the time of our September general meeting. I am back, and busy with other LGA board members setting up the event calendar for the 2020 LGA season. I will be able to share this information at the October general meeting. If anyone has questions or suggestions, please email or call me.

Upcoming events:

Oct. 2 – Stroke play or Celebration Cup match play
Oct. 30 – Halloween Par-3 shotgun (9 holes), followed meeting/lunch. Please sign up!

Bundle up and let’s keep golfing.

Regards,
Karen Stanard
LGA President
