June started off with a beautiful day to host the 2019 LGA Guest Day, June 5. BGC hosted 36 guests, and 31 members played. The format was a shamble, a scramble, and a best ball, 6 holes each. Thanks to Joanne Christensen and Bev Dunderdale for putting such a fun tournament. Beautiful job!
The course was in very nice condition, considering the challenging winter damage. Many thanks to Scott Moffenbeier and his whole crew for working so hard.
Later in the month, BGC hosted the Juniper LGA for the annual “Silver Bowl “ net best ball competition. Juniper has won the competition and held the Silver Bowl Trophy at their club for the past 2 years, so the pressure was on us to “go for it.” We thought we had won it back, but after careful evaluation, we had NOT. Boo-Hoo! Overall it was a fun play. Congratulations, Juniper LGA.
The Nine Hole Visitation was a huge success. On June 21, 56 nine-holers took to the course. It was organized by Sylvia Collins.
They welcomed all players with a gift bag of goodies, and lunch an prizes came later. Thank you, Sylvia — Great Job!
The BGC Team Play has had 2 competitions so far in 2019. The first was held at Sunriver Resort, where they played well, ending in 2nd place overall. The second play was at Awbrey Glen. The team score wasn’t quite as good, but I heard Vicki Taylor had an eagle. Way to play, team!
There are a few reminders for us all. The grounds crew wants us to continue lifting / placing any ball landing in a recovering area of the fairway. The grass is growing in, but needs more time to fully recover.
Secondly, don’t forget about the GOLF CLINIC that our pro, John Thorsnes, will present before play on July 17. This is also the President’s Cup one-day tournament. Please sign up in the pro shop or through ForeTees.
