Normally my April update would include how our spring cleanup went and excitement for the upcoming Bend Masters. The 2019 season is starting off on a different note as the heavy February snowfall has been slow to melt, delaying the start of our season by almost a month. Although snow still exists in shady areas throughout the course, our seasonal staff has been able to start the cleanup process. As we prepare for opening, we are seeing the effects of long-term ice and snow cover. Some areas will require extra care and time before excellent playing conditions return. We thank you in advance for your patience this spring as the golf course maintenance team works hard to get to that point.
The late winter has also delayed the #11/18 tee project, but we still plan on having the tee ready to go by July 1. Final shaping and sodding will take place later this month and early May. Other spring projects will include the possible expansion of the driving range tee in concert the building of the new cart barn.
At this point we hope to have the back nine open this week with the entire course open by the middle of the month. We also plan on having a Masters weekend event to kick off the season. Thanks for all your support and see you on the course!
