MGA Update: December 2018

2019 is upon us.  As your new president of the Men’s Golf Association (MGA) I intend to increase and improve communications. Input to this article is the first step.  But, I won’t rely on this one media. I plan regular publication, using email, of board decisions, events and projects.  Our Tradition article, board meeting minutes and MGA emails will also be posted in the locker room. Importantly, a major goal will be to solicit and welcome input and recommendations from you.

Another is to enhance the enjoyment and camaraderie of our golfing experience. Our aim is to provide innovative and entertaining golf events, with spirited yet fair competition. We encourage everyone to play in more events in 2019, no matter how low or high the handicap, and hope improvements we plan will increase participation.

Our new slate of officers includes:

President: Scott Hakala
Vice President: Tom Tulledge
Secretary: Doug Rude
Treasurer: Kevin Freihoefer
MGA Liaison to Grounds Committee: Brian Brown
Board of Directors liaison: Josh Gordon

Volunteer Positions:

Administrative Support Representative:  Jim Bradbury, Sr.

Tournament Support Committee:  (Members: TBA)

Hospitality/New Member Support Team:  (Members: TBA)

Please contact me or any officer with your thoughts and ideas.

Based on input from many of our members, we have made some schedule changes for our 2019 tournament schedule as follows:

July 12-14: Thursday-Saturday, MGA Mirror Pond Amateur Invitational
Aug. 22, 24–25: MGA Men’s Club Championship

  • Improve new-member orientation
  • Increase support for Ladies Golf Association

Our next MGA meeting is Dec.  19, 2018.  If you have an item you’d like presented or discussed please contact our secretary, Doug Rude at
