Pinecone Classic 2018 was one to remember

It’s 5:00 Somewhere!

With those immortal words, the 2018 Pinecone Classic Women’s Member-Guest Tournament kicked off under sunny and breezy skies with the theme “Goin’ to Margaritaville.” In true Jimmy Buffett style, we laughed, we drank, we played, we sang, we danced, we ate great finger food—lest we all go insane. You should see Heidi Peyton and Barb Gahr hula hoop—they can drink and “hoop” forever!

“Was the best M/G ever…loved the decorations, theme, food!!!” – Janis

But the fun and games had to come to an end eventually as we had two great days of golf ahead of us. Saturday was our “fun” golf day with a Shamble format, games on the course, and the added excitement of nine “Lost Shakers of Salt” to be found with cash rewards inside. Last I heard, Jane Lin was still on the course looking for the last shaker… But the day was just getting started. After our “Buffett” Lunch, we hardy Parrot Heads headed back out onto the course for the horse race. There were plenty of “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes,” as our beverage cart kept everyone in the spirit of heckling and fun. Suzanne Kelso and friends were a moving party with their own musical accompaniment. That evening, I heard that there were quite a few blown-out flip flops around town …

“The best event was a very well run horse race. Fast, furious, fun, and a lot of new friendships made.” – Mary

“With You I’d Walk Anywhere” was the theme of our last day in Margaritaville with a 2-person best ball format as our teams of friends grew closer (or not!) as the morning progressed. Lots of groans and moans were heard along with a few cheers across the course, but sadly none were from winning the Robberson Ford new car. No one was “Wasting Away in Margaritaville”—at least not on purpose, but some did claim “there was a woman to blame” for their play that morning. But by the time everyone settled into the “Come Monday…” Awards Luncheon, all had been forgiven and the most tenacious of the competitors won the day.

Your members are so friendly and encouraging.” – Shan

As the sun set on three action-filled days on our beautiful course, I think I could hear Jimmy “strumming his six string, on his front porch swing” as we all left with great memories of our days in Margaritaville and wondering, what was in store for next year after all the Margaritaville fun and friendship.

“If life hands you limes, find someone with tequila and salt.”

– Carol White
